Mrs Lioyd E En Merehall selected Tuneful Melodies as the 1973 Coos County Fair theme after days of careful thought. She will receive fair passes and family admission perks. School District 41 to host Sing On concert May 15

The School District 41 Music Department presents Sing On a concert on Tuesday May 15 at 7 30 p m in the Myrtle Crest gym The program features the high school mixed chorus girls chorus seventh grade chorus eighth grade chorus and Broadbent special chorus directed by Marvey Marme.

Voters approved a proposed 1973-74 city tax levy by 85 to 73, exceeding the six percent limit by 62,335 dollars. The levy will raise 21,367 dollars less than the current operating levy.

Local Rotarians plan to attend the Annual District 511 Convention of Rotary International in Florence May 31 to June 3. Delegates from 33 Oregon clubs will transact Rotary business and enjoy the coastal area. Indian Confab Set Saturday In Coos Bay

All American Indians and families in Coos and Curry counties are invited to a conference and course on the signing ending the Wounded Knee siege. H D will speak Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Federated Trip Reservation on Michigan Avenue in the Empire District. Discussions cover the Wounded Knee agreement and new treaty and non treaty channels. Bond issue and budget defeated by district voters

Voters in School District 41 rejected a 9.5 million high school bond and a proposed 1,009,462 tax levy for the 1973-74 budget. The bond failed 628 to 321 and the budget lost 473 to 3, with a separate 232 yes 59% no vote on the Coes County SEC budget.
