Of four released, three moved to civil life and one returned for parole violation. Over two years 688 men entered the program. 80 remained jailed for rule violations. Oregon to Release Unemployment Checks for Returning Servicemen
Commissioner J N Peet announced that the state will release unemployment insurance checks to returning West Nam servicemen and unemployed ex federal employees. Congress approved 28 million dollars for emergency benefits after Oregon held 4746 in suspense since the federal funds expired. Checks may be picked up at local offices or mailed to claimants if not personally called for. Some servicemen had as many as ten checks withheld due to the shortage.

School Election Results Show Zone 5 6 Picks and 6 Year Terms
In the May 6 district 641 vote Bill Roush won a six year seat on the administrative board for Zone 5 6, replacing Everett Doyle whose term ended.
