Six Injured In Week Auto Crashes At Myrtle Point
Six people were seriously injured in two car crashes this week. Juda Ann Wilson sustained a broken collar bone while J L Jewett had chest arm and knee injuries in a collision at an intersection in Myrtle Point. Five others in the Wilson car were injured. Hospitalized at Maat hospital Myrtle Point were William Goodwin L D Stevens Keith Witte and Alvin Hickman all of Coquille who were hurt in a Beau hill crash two miles from Ban. Goodwin suffered head injuries and Hickman received chest and facial injuries. Police said the other car was driven by Hickam when the crash occurred. The vehicle was badly damaged.

The Bandon coastguard station or Coquillo river motor lifeboat station will be shut on a caretaker basis due to personnel shortages. Lt Cmdr L V Barnett said the lookout will be dropped and only two men stay to safeguard equipment until necessary.

Lions and Students Split Sunday Softball Doubleheader
The Lions and Myrtle Port high school softball teams split a Sunday doubleheader with identical scores of 9 to 8. The Lions won the opener 9 to 8, the high school team recovered to win 9 to 8 in the second game. No serious injuries reported though a player pulled a muscle and several others suffer bruises and soreness. A fair crowd watched at the high school field.
