Harold Robison Seeks Seat on Arago District 41 School Board
At Monday's school board meeting Harold Robison of Arago announced his candidacy for Zone 7 on District 41's school board. He was appointed to fill Gerald Lillis's vacancy and will be on the ballot in May to complete Lillis's unexpired term. A consolidation petition with Coquille was discussed to study a joint high school and expanded program for Myrtle Point and Coquille. The district approved Schetkey Equipment Co. for a new Superior school bus body with the chassis contract to Lounsbury Ford Sales Coquille.

School Levy Reduction Details Under Local Ballot
The school board cut the levy by 41 736 dollars by sending Bridge seventh and eighth graders to Myrtle Crest next year reducing staff and adding 80 000 in cash receipts not seen in the budget. The levy would max at 15 12 per thousand outside a 6 percent limit. last year 13 57 was approved. After offsets the levy was 10 99 per thousand lowest in the county. Anticipated assessor offsets may reduce this year proportionately. Total outside-6 percent levy amounts to 648 704 dollars. The 15 12 per thousand is based on current district value.

Marty Stone Receives Awards At Lodge Supper
Marty Stone, district speak off winner for the 10.0.F. United Nations cone test, received an $85 check from the Southwestern Oregon UN committee and a $985 check from Myrtle Point 10.0.F. Lodge at a April 26 supper meeting marking 160 years of LOCF in the United States. 75 attendees. Orvis Miller spoke on Oddfellowship and Marty Stone gave the winning speech with music from Mrs. Russell Evans Nadine Evans and a high school chorus.

Mr and Mrs J R Howe asked the city planning commission Monday to rezone parts of Belloni addition to Myrtle Point from light industrial to commercial so they can develop a terraced mobile home site for about 25 units with landscaping. A public hearing is set for May 12 at City Hall.
