Public invited to open house at CCC Camp McKinley on Sunday to tour camp buildings learn recreation education and development facilities. Guides explain camp work projects fire protection reforestation and watershed efforts highlighting thousands of seedlings planted and nurseries under construction for future timber and community welfare.
Homer Robinson receives appointment as Park Ranger for the U B Park Service at Carlsbad Caverns New Mexico. He is the son of O H Robinson of Gaylord formerly with the Forest Service at Powers and lately with Hammond Lumber Co of Ramon Callier and Mi. Robinson and his children Peter and Patricia will depart immediately for New Mexico.
Scouts from Bridge present a three act mystery in the school building April Saturday. The plot follows a haunted house owned by Mrs Priscilla Carter and centered on the murder tied to Nellie Bronson with a caretaker Darius Knapp interpreting strange events. The cast includes Eve lyn Shields Vivienne Lake Lois Medley Clifton Christian Edwad Morrison Roger LeClerc Eddie Hatfield Jimmie Hatcher Wilds Beckett Lonella Wells.
Charles Wouldridge attended a three day Oregon State Meating and Air Conditioning conference at Oregon State College. The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosted the event with Specialista presenting latest developments in air conditioning and heating equipment. Exhibits were shown in the engineering laboratory on campus.

James E Bud Hawkins and Greta McLellan were married Monday March 20 1939 in Vancouver Washington. The couple returned to Myrtle Point and reside in the Perkins apartment. Attendants were May Clancy and Mrs J R Wetzel. The bride daughter of Dr and Mrs Grant McLellan, born in North Bend, Myrtle Point High School 1937. Hawkins born in Cloverdale attended local schools and works for Hawkins Brothers mill. A charivari at Roy Hawkins home with 40 friends preceded the wedding.
Dora Svendsen travels from British Columbia to Brewster Valley to visit cousin Mrs Gearhart and Mrs Kirk while meeting Miss Rachel Roberts. Wilda Shepherd stays with Itella Crosby in Gravelford. Several local families host and visit over the weekend including trips to Fat Elk and McKinley Hall for skating.
Fifty men began work in Powers on Eden Ridge. Floyd Eaton starts his first logging contract supplying loge for Coos Bay Lumber at Marat ld. George Bryant Logging co will wait for roads to clear before trucking out logs. Snow melt enables resumption. camp grounds cleared after storm damage.
Bridge E J Walker Jr will lead Christian Endeavor Sunday evening with the Loyalty of Jesus topic. Sunday guests include Miss Lou Hooton Ruth and E J Walker Jr and Virginia Beckett of Myrtle Point.
Delegates from six city chambers met in Coquille to plan a Coos county exhibit for the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco as part of a state display. Leaders urged county cooperation, college student attendance, and broader regional involvement for Southwestern Oregon.
Saturday visitors fill the rural ledger as gatherings, showers, and dinners mark a busy week. Notables include L B Jennings hosting a stork shower for Mrs Frazier Bradley with guests Barrette Zinn Appleton Mecum Master Wyrick and the Jennings family serving. Several pairs travel between Coquille Myrtle Creek and nearby communities, including Arve Sargent staying in Frank Mecum’s home and Mrs Grant Weathers visiting Marshfield.

A Myrtle Point native born September 25 1911 died March 27 1998 in a Coquille hospital from injuries suffered in a highway automobile crash. He is survived by his father W B Norton and five sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at Gene Funeral Home Coquille with Rev R D E Smith officiating and interment at IOOF cemetery.
The Una Rebekah elected Mrs. Elmer Hufford as Grand Lodge delegate with Mrs. Rebecca Adams as substitute for the May 15 gathering in Klamath Falls. Birthday shower honors for Mrs. Ray Waterman featured gifts, sewing and visiting with two out of town guests.
