District 41 votes defeat district budget and levy proposal
In a special election Polat High School district suffered a 13 percent margin defeat on the bond issue and District 41 rejected both the school district budget demanding a 1,026,463 tax levy and the same bond plan in January by 37 votes. Bus Driver Injured in Gaylord Road Collision
Melvin W Floyd 49 of Myrtle Paim, a School District 41 bus driver, was treated for a fractured right ankle after a school bus and a Chevrolet heavy duty trade truck collided on Gaylord Road near Gaylord. The truck driver, Scott Taylor Hatch 27 of Hughson California, was cited for failure to drive on the right side. Police said children were aboard the bus but no other injuries were reported.

High prices bid for government timber auction in Coos Bay district
Government timber sold 26 024 000 board feet for 4 305 369 55 in late March at the Coos Bay District BLM auction. LutZinger Ridge and Brewster Rock parcels drew top per thousand bids of 248 and 232 dollars respectively. Yoncalla Forest Products and Paradise Ridge led as high bidders for multiple tracts. The next sale is scheduled for April 27 at the Coos Bay office starting 10 a.m.
