Blues lead Palestine contest after week’s work. Special song performance and Bible story shared. Families attend services. no sermon this week but promised next Sunday. Various local visits, visitors from North Bend and Roseburg, treatments noted. Notice to public.
The quarterly WoCU meeting of the county institute will be held in Myrtle Point at the Pioneer church on Wednesday April 20. A full day program includes a morning business session, a noon luncheon, and an afternoon program with talks on school problems enforcement facts and citizenship. Attendees from Douglas and Lane counties are expected. Also reported is the death of Mrs No Dodge at Cervall leaving a husband and three children.
Joe Marsh aged 16 and Neal Flick aged 22 from Powers fought one night last week. Marsh suffered fractures to both sides of his lower jaw. Flick, described as a large man, was arrested in Marshfield by Sheriff Henry Weas and Deputy W Culver as he prepared to return to Washington. The dispute began when Marsh and a companion confronted Flick and a girl parents were seeking. Marsh received treatment at a doctor’s office and is hospitalized in Coquille, while Flick remains in the county jail.
