Powers Man Found Dead by Neighbors
Powers, March 22 Special Thomas J. Goes, 65, blind and living alone for seven years, was found dead in his bed by neighbors today. No known relatives, except a stepson in Canada. Funeral arrangements had not been made at this writing.
Business and Professional Women's Club Charter Night
The Myrtle Point B P W club held a charter night banquet at the Myrtle Hotel banquet hall on March 18 with 82 members and guests. Attendees included nine state officers, 11 state board members, and representatives from 19 Willamette valley clubs. Arlene Robertson presented the charter to Harriet Harper, and Carmalita Weddle officiated as state president. An emblem ceremony by Coquille members followed, and community songs featured Marjorie Myers Ruth Beyers and Georgia May Moller performing.

Myrtle Point Police Chief Arrested in Larceny Case
Myrtle Point Chief of Police Albert Walsh was arrested by state officers on a larceny by embezzlement charge. He spent the night in Coquille jail in custody of the sheriff. The city accuses Walsh of stealing 827.50 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled before Judge Swanton in Coos Bay.

L. J. Roberts Dies in Eugene Hospital Funeral Held
L J Devi Roberts died Saturday afternoon at Sacred Heart hospital Eugene after a week’s confinement. Funeral services were held Monday at Schroeder Funeral parlor with Rev Wilmer A Briggs officiating. Interment was in Myrtle Point cemetery. He was born May 12 1879 in Myrtle Point and lived there all his life. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers listed.
