4-H clubs complete litter drive across Coos County roads
The Coos County 4-H Empire Builders Club led a Saturday litter sweep from North Bend to LaVerne Park. About 250 youth aged 9 to 19 and 50 adults collected litter along a 13 mile stretch in under two hours, with bags provided by the Bureau of Land Management and transport by the Coos County Parks Department.

CPL group and delegates draft bill for local health services
Delegates from 38 counties and locals such as Alice Mowe Mary Baker Dora Glisan and Myrtle Howell met in Salem on March 13 to draft a bill aimed at improving health services in underserved areas. The CPL plans to use local personnel and volunteers to implement better housing health facilities and services with ongoing work and contact options at Myrtle Point and the CAA office. Members also attended a Coos Curry group meeting in Gold Beach on March 17 where committees formed and refreshments were served.

The Myrtle Point City Council approved a new ordinance prohibiting loitering near schools and public places with strict enforcement. Police Chief Ed Summers said a person commits the offense by lingering without a legitimate reason or by refusing to identify themselves when approached, a Class C offense punishable by up to 80 days in jail or a 610 fine or both.

Lions hear lake feasibility study request in Myrtle Point
Myrtle Point Lions Club was asked to contribute toward a feasibility study for a fresh water lake south of town. Keith Schroeder and Jack Dunn from the Planning Commission explained the proposal at a Lions meeting. The chamber budgeted 800 for the study.
