Budget committee approves $1.5 million for schools

Fourth District Congressman John Dellenback welcomed House passage of the Dunes National Recreation Area bill on March 6. Youth killed by homemade explosive accident
Martin E Pleep a 14 year old Arago youth was killed when a home made bomb he tested exploded. The Coos County sheriff said the blast occurred in an orchard near his family dairy farm and a 1 1 by 18 inch pipe filled with explosive caused the fatality. A box of kitchen matches was found near the body. He was a freshman at Myrtle Point High School and funeral services were held in Coquille with burial at Myrtle Crest Memorial Gardens.
