Powers high school Cruisers, led by 6 ft 3 in center Jim Boutin who scored 70 and grabbed 55 rebounds in the tournament, lose 63 54 to Malin in the state Class B final at Baker. Boutin earns all tournament first team honors and teammate Del Dungy makes second team as Powers finishes runner-up after earlier 60 45 win over Pilot Rock and 60 39 over Santiam. Sportsmen to Hold Registered Shoot Here Next Sunday
The Myrtle Point Sportsmen's club and the Gold Beach Gun club plan a competitive registered shoot at the club grounds next Sunday March 20. Participants registering targets compete for the PITA donated high over all trophy with separate classes A B C and D. The Herald Press window will display some prizes. Beginning March 23 the Myrtle Point club launches a juvenile hunting safety program open to any boy or girl 9 years or older with five 27 rifles donated by George Worolley for training. Ammunition will be sold on hand or bring your own.

Forty two residents donated blood to the Red Cross bloodmobile in Myrtle Point last Wednesday, eight pints below the area goal. Seven volunteers were rejected. Volunteers assisted by Mrs Humble included numerous hostesses in canteen reception and donor departments. one donor earned a 1 gallon pin.

Sitkum Logger Dies From Rolling Log Incident
Sitkum logger Ernest Floyd Mull 21 of Coos Bay Lumber Co was killed Monday afternoon last week when a dislodged log struck him. Services were held in Myrtle Point with burial planned in McMinnville. Survivors include his widow Janice Sitkum two sons Jerry Dean and Robin Brent, his parents Hazey and Mrs Mull, two brothers John and Lloyd, four sisters Harriett Shirley and Mrs Sherman, and Mrs V Coldfron.
