Former MP Man Visits Friends Here

Harold Endicott of Portland arrived in Myrtle Point Friday morning to spend the weekend with local friends. He is an alumnus of Myrtle Point High School class of 1932 and attended the University of Oregon. He recently took a civil service job with a government surveying crew and is working at Caswindlw-CE.

Movies Feature Lions Club Session In Myrtle Point

The Myrtle Point Lions Club held a Wednesday meeting with a showing of films from a Europe trip and Coos county logging scenes by George Bryant of Coquille. Members discussed war scenes in France and England and Italian preparations, plus Oregon footage of Bryant camp logging. The club invited Marshfield Pirates to the next meeting and voted to shift meetings from Thursday to Wednesday.

Presbyterian Ladies Aid elects officers at meeting

Mrs Barker was chosen as president of the Presbyterian Ladies Aid at a Wednesday church meeting. Elected officers include Mrs Schroeder as first vice president Mrs Daniels as second vice president Mrs Bryant as secretary and Mrs Belloni as treasurer. An apron shower and a cooked food sale are planned for April 8 with an April 4 apron shower. The group also announced a rummage sale for Friday and Saturday.

Coos county motor license offices will accept reduced license fees for trucks buses wreckers and farm trucks starting March 15 with a June 3 1838 expiration. Passenger cars and vehicles weighing 4000 pounds or more will not receive any reduction.

Fifth Annual County Music Festival Slated in Coquille

April 22 set for the Fifth Annual County Music Festival to be held in the new high school gym in Coquille. Anita Pageler of Coquille chairs the committee with Helen Blodgett Myrtle Point Wayne Smith Coquille Marie Mitchell North Vess Mrs Ethel Liestreem. Last year 79 people attended with 700 participants. this year the event cannot be held during Music Week due to county school closures.

Aliso Silver received a one year jail term for a common nuisance after changing his plea to guilty. John Freeman was sent to the pen for one year after a larceny conviction. Thomas Jonathan Gibbs got five years with a 20 day stay and probation after a delinquency ruling. Warren Gilbert ordered to pay support arrears with a formal stay until June 5. Women's Clubs Meet In Bandon

Coos County Federation of Women's clubs holds its spring meeting March 21 at the Masonic hall Bandon. Registration at 10 a m precedes a program session and a noon no host luncheon. Dinner in Honor of Archbishop Howard Planned in Roseburg

Dinner chairman Finn and committee arrange a three banquet series to honor Archbishop Edward D Howard of Portland. The inaugural event Sunday at 8 pm in the Roseburg Armory aims for at least 180 lay attendees from 18 parishes spanning Eugene to the California line and coast.
