County Fair Dates and Airfield Plans Shaped at North Bend

Coos and Curry County fair board met in North Bend and set the fair for September 17 18 19 and 20. They endorsed Myrtle Point efforts for an airplane landing field and decided to modify fences and grounds to accommodate air travel. Next meeting scheduled in Bandon with local officials and educators in attendance.

Senator Hall Visits State to Campaign Across Regions

Senator Chan Hall arrives in the city this morning after addressing the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce where Douglas County ranchers attended. He plans to tour every section of the state, visiting Multnomah County labor groups and counties along the Pacific highway, then proceeding to Curry County.

Garbage Along Highway Alarms Myrtle Point Area

Residents along the Myrtle Point Arago highway complain of garbage dumping. Tin cans and decaying refuse litter the road creating a foul odor and nighttime nuisances. A deputy sheriff saw nothing. the matter may be referred to the state highway commission if no action is taken.

Cops and Curry County Game Association Meeting Notes

The Game League met in Bandon with Myrtle Point members Jesse Clinton Tom Gurney Henry Bryant R J Booth and E J Schneider present. Officials discussed filling a vacancy on the state game commission and urged L A Liljeqvist to accept the post, but he declined. The next meeting is set for Marshfield on March 25.

Novelty Here Change of Ownership Nears

The Novelty Here store, formerly run by Corn Steele and Burne, will pass to new owners next Monday morning. Buyers from Klamath Falls plan to relocate there and expand the business, with two parties involved including Mr Moran and a San Francisco affiliated daughter. The other family will move later due to job ties in Klamath Falls and family health needs.

Bald Hill Road Closed After Major Mud Slide

Bald Hill road is practically closed for most of its length due to mud and slides between the Huntley and Culbertson ranches. A large slide between those ranches and another near the Culbertson place washed out a bulkhead. Locals say repairs will be rapid once dry weather returns.

Glassyer sues Hale for damages over hotel assault

Dr W V Gimayer files circuit court suit against Harvey Hale seeking damages for injuries and loss from an assault in a hotel on February 18. Claim includes $4000 general damages, $165 daily loss of earnings, $500 exemplary damages, $159 physician’s fees incurred, $100 still needed, and $26 for other items.

Oregon State College Band To Perform Monday

The Oregon State College military band, organized in 1892 by Colonel J D Letcher, will appear Monday March 24. The group has played at world fairs and festivals on the Pacific coast since 1900 and now numbers 15 to 86 members each year.

Twin Calves Boost Dairymen Yields Report from Robison Herd

Norway Coquille and Twin Oaks dairymen gain note as Ray Robison reports three cows that freshened since January yielded twin calves. One cow had two heifers, another two bulls, and a third had one of each. All heifer calves survive. Mothers are grade Jersey cows. bull calves were vealed.

Frisco Excursion Fare From Myrtle Point Offered

Southern Pacific announces a special round trip excursion fare to San Francisco from Myrtle Point on March 20. Tickets are 15 dollars with a ten day return limit and valid on all regular trains in standard Pulman tourist sleepers or day coaches.
