An all day State Grange meeting for Coos and Curry counties was held at the Pioneer church in Coquille on Friday March 4 with Henry Coustaf non in charge. Included were talks by state officers Miss Bertha Beck Arthur Brown Mrs Brown and Frank Harlow plus Roseburg editor H Batley and Doug County Turkey Growers head A Huntington. Lunch followed for 126 grange members and the afternoon brought three different sessions led by the Masters and executive committee members.
The Lions club regular Thursday night session drew a large crowd. A. A. Schriefer won speaker of the evening with a clear talk on the water rate and its causes. A District Association for Relief of the Unemployed in Marshfield was noted for an upcoming musical. The club presented Jess Clinton with a token of appreciation.
Bamion theatre owner KK A Hartman, age 72, died by his own action Wednesday morning after four years of ill health. He left behind a widow and a daughter and a son in school. Boys observed a tracked incident from the theatre doors and alerted authorities and state investigator Ann Currie.
Adam property and surrounding area near Middle Fork and tributaries are undergoing a personal property assessment. The district has completed the South Fork work and Adams district is now being assessed. this marks the third year of service in this capacity.
The Couos Bay unit of the Western Merchants and Manufacturers Association will hold an open meeting and entertainment at the Odd Fellows hall in Marshfield on Tuesday evening March 15 at 8 pm. A program with coffee and sandwiches is free. prizes will be awarded for county school casions by J. E. Nerton of Coquille. State Senator Elton Watkins and other well known business figures will speak. The public is invited.
The Lundy Cheese annual banquet at Schroeder hall drew over one hundred members guests and friends. Jesse D Canton as toastmaster delivered timely remarks. 88B Reed president and Chris Nelson spoke on stockholder benefits while Dr Sumertin on chamber of commerce delivered the keynote. Lawrence Kockioff Fenn Felsher and Ellis Shull offered dairyman insights. Mrs Verne Lundy and Mrs P F Bartlett led a fine dinner and the event featured a company talent program.
Arago resident Misa Edythe Woodward will join more than 40 girls in Oregon State College Corvallis fourth annual dance recital hosted by the women’s physical education department. The program March 10 and 11 features group dances solos and bright costumes with Woodward taking part in several group dances as a member of the ginnners dancing class.
A two year old boy, Detlefsen, of Norway, was injured Tuesday when the heavy lid of the back compartment fell on his hand. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Tom Detlefsen.
The Cove County association for the ruler of the unemployed met with Judge Thompson in Coquite to plan a benefit reef fund. Myrtle Point volunteers form the local committee chaired by Mrs. W. Lee Ray with Chon Harlocker and Bert Pearson. A concert in Marshfield on Sunday March 20 will feature talent from county towns. proceeds fund unemployment relief, with tickets sold through county clubs and local organizations.

The Garden club met at Mrs. C. E. Hu ling with good attendance. A. C. Cooper spoke on Plants for the home garden and members shared talks on their favorite aspects of gardening. The next meeting is set for March 22 at Mrs. Ralph D. Kring's Fifth Street home.
