Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce directors approved pledged funds from Myrtle Point Coos Bay North Bend and Band on to defray camp expenses at the McKinley camp for county youth organizations. The camp with 50 eating places and 24 sleeping spots will serve outings and summer programs and is to be updated for sanitation and watchman needs.
Hugh Gearhear, TG, among 904 army veterans discharged after voyage aboard the U S S Oneida Victory. The ship left Yokohama Japan on February 9 and reached Seattle on February 23.

A 500 foot loading dock is being built along Broadbent beside the railroad line. Robert L. Fuller of Eugene is in charge of the project. Ramsey Construction Company is building the Warner dock for Cheney Lumber company to use for loading with 64 foot and 100 foot approaches.
China missionaries will speak at the Church of the Brethren from Sunday to Friday March 10 to 15. A discussion on mission work in China will be held and Mrs Crumpacker will meet with the Women’s Fellowship for an all day session. The Crumpackers will lead spring communion services with the public invited.
The American Legion post sponsors a dance at the Oaks pavilion this Saturday evening to raise funds for the Bobcats basketball team. Proceeds help send the team to the state tournament in Salem next weekend. An event at the high school auditorium follows the dance with Rubenstein Rubes from Eugene. Plans aim for a large turnout and include sending managers and the coach to the tournament.
Marie Michel daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugo Michel and Ben Nichols son of Mr Charlie Nichols were married in a double ring ceremony. The bride wore a beige suit with brown accessories and a white orchid corsage. Her sister Mrs Basil Witeon attended in an aqua blue suit with a white orchid corsage.

Services were held at 1 30 yesterday for Mrs Mella May Rice a resident of Myrtle Point for four years who died Saturday at her Bridge home. She is survived by her husband Albert a son and a daughter. Funeral services were in Schroeder chapel Myrtle Point and burial was in Coquille Masonic cemetery. J R Wiley officiated.
