The Twin Oaks 4-H club decorated The Herald window for National 4-H Week. Young members showcased trophies and 144 ribbons from Oregon State Fair Coos County fair and other events. Coos County hosts a large, active 4-H membership noted for big projects.
Myrtle Point sponsors five students to attend the Oregon Retail Distributors Institute at the University May 4 and 5. Don Farr and Bob Dodge outline program and costs with local sponsors pledging two students each.
The Inter-church Fellowship of Myrtle Point meets at the First Presbyterian Church on Monday March 10 at 7 00 PM for a fellowship dinner and program. All church members are invited to attend the regular meeting.

The Jaycee Road-e-o drew 92 bicycles for city license inspections. Winners included Cheryl Henry Group 1 first, Derry Knight Group 2 first, and Debbie Troxell grand prize. Licenses issued March 15 at the police station. uninspected bikes or riders must retake the test.
Myrtle Point High defeated Reedsport 59 to 43 to reach the district final. Harold Csergei scored 24 points leading Myrtle Point while Bill Harper added 11. Toledo’s Marv Branstitter had 17 points in the loss.
Two meetings of the Legislative Fish and Game Committee will be held in Coquille and Coos Bay in Coos County Oregon. The first session is at 1 pm Wednesday March 12 in the county courthouse Coquille and the second at 8 pm same day in the council chamber city hall Coos Bay. The committee includes two senators and three representatives and will discuss fish and game conservation issues.
The Herald prints a letter from Homer Millard of Powers High School, vice chairman of the County OEA Welfare committee, about rural teachers salaries. It notes that rural districts now control budgets and salaries, and urges contact with committee leaders for wage negotiation services. The rural committee, mainly from Coos County, includes Bob Brigitt, Frank Walsh, Delleen Metzger, Edgar Bowen, Sonny Hill, and Homer Millard, with ongoing membership.
Cub Scouts and Webelos from Myrtle Point with Scout Master Arlo Duncan and den mothers plan to attend Scout Capades in Eugene on March 29. They sell candy to raise trip funds though transportation remains a problem and CRAMIES or buses may be borrowed. Thousands of Oregon Scouts are expected to participate.
Mrs Della Belloni president and Mrs C D Nasl secretary spoke at the Myrtle Hotel meeting of the Chamber of Commerce detailing the global activities of Business and Professional Women's clubs. They discussed improving working conditions for women and community service initiatives led by local clubs.
