Lester Dement broke his left shoulder last week Wednesday when the horse slipped into a hole at the head of Dement creek while inspecting cattle. He will be out of work for at least six weeks.

February totals show 1180 books read 878 by adults 286 by children 15 state books and 169 magazines with 26 books donated by Mr and Mrs Verne Lundy.

Townsend Program Wedding and Entertainment Planned

A Townsend program will be held Friday March 5 at Townsend hall with musical numbers dancing short skits singing and acrobatics. A small admission includes lunch. A public wedding is planned at Townsend hall Sunday March 14 at 2 pm with parties names withheld. Public invitation extended.

Fire Chiefs Set Date For School And Conference

At a joint meeting of the Oregon Fire Chiefs Association held with the state fire marshal's office the annual fire chiefs conference and fire school were scheduled for June 24 38 and 36 at Medford. Fire Chief Mohr of The Dalles presided and Henry Lecocq of Marshfield represented Coos county. The program includes competitive drills roundtable discussions and department instruction.

Townsend Musical Well Received at Myrtle Point Club

The Myrtle Point Townsend club opened early for a special music program. President M. R. Lee reported on the district convention at Zugene. A concert at the Methodist church featured Miss Muriel Dae and seven students, with violin solos and piano accompaniment by Miss Ebola Volkmar. Dr. T M. White spoke on the Townsend plan to finish the event.
