The Myrtle Point Woman's club met for a full day session at Mr Vern. Lundy’s Twin Oaks home with 36 members. Reports covered the Pendleton ration meeting and the Los Angeles tuberculosis conference. Officers for next year were elected and park improvements funded. No meetings until September.
The record includes Alex McLeod versus Beaver Slough Drainage District over back wages totaling 740 dollars with interest and penalties, plus state industrial commission claims. Lillian Moore daughter of Mr and Mrs C P Moore of Myrtle Point and Lynn Cavitt of Coquille wed in a quiet ceremony at the bride's parents home in Myrtle Point. Rev T M White officiated with Milas Ellen Rustvold as bridesmaid and Norman Branch as best man. Guests included Moore family and others. couple plans a Myrtle Point home.

Dick Heslin 16 and Winnifred Wyllys 17 held for Washington state. elopers left home to marry. girl charged with stealing utensils for camping. health charge for stolen automobile. John Christian 53 arrested for drunken driving. bail 150 dollars. Carman Andrews 35 jailed to serve old fine of 10 dollars and costs from May 1838. Mrs George Fitzhenry of Coquille admitted to jail for 15 days drunk and disorderly. W J Smith 44 charged with assault with immoral intent. bail 2500. Jack Nash 34 held on forgery charge. brought back from Portland.
Alexander Turner sues A G Thrift for twenty thousand general damages plus eighty eight dollars for hospitalization and nursing one hundred dollars for medical care thirty four fifty costs of hiring work on his sheep ranch and other costs after an auto accident four miles west of Coquille on the Coast highway Sept sixteen or seventeen 1936 Turner says Thrift drove at high speed in the same direction tried to pass and struck the left rear of Turner's car causing a ditch tumble and long term injury He also alleges Thrift failed to sound his horn.
The Whiteside troupe from Eddie Sark attractions will entertain at the Coos County Fair. Six daring artists will dance, perform acrobatics, and capers on a taut wire. The troupe is renowned and provides laughter and fun in its comedy acts.
William Botley Smith aged in the seventies died at his home in Myrtle Point on Monday June 27 1938 at 7 o clock from a heart attack. A retired logger born December 4 1874 in Highlands North he had lived in Oregon for 38 years and in Myrtle Point for nine years. He leaves six children four sons Thomas Wiley William Henry Harold and Harley Smith and two daughters Anne and Eda Smith, a mother Mrs WW Smith two brothers Harry and Herley and three sisters all of North Carolina. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Schroeder Funeral Home with Rev Hugh Mitchelmore and burial in Myrtle Point cemetery. He was well liked and his passing will be a great loss.

The Union High School board re elected Paul Brewer as chairman after ten years of service. He has never missed a meeting or been late. The board will meet again in July to organize the coming year.
Townsend delegates Mr and Mrs H M Mat Leno and Mr and Mrs Jess E Read attended Townsend in Santa Angture an evening after a 500 mile drive that day Sunday at 2 pm. A complete report of the convention will be given at the club hall. The public is invited and special music will be furnished.
Beneva Volkmar daughter of Mr and Mrs A J L Volkmar and niece of H C Volkmar of Myrtle Point and Edwin Keltner of Oregon City married at 430 pm Saturday June 25 by Rev George Tuster near St James Episcopal church in Coquille. The bride wore white satin with lace and carried a bouquet of white orchids and orange blossoms. A reception followed the ceremony. The couple will reside in Jennings Lodge after a honeymoon in Victoria and Vancouver. Many relatives from Coquille Myrtle Point Marshfield and surrounding areas attended.
A 1850 era tale follows Ben, a 21 year old Crawford county youth known as Helibark Ben, who abandons home after hearing of gold west, choosing to join Hinkson's wagon train to California. His father reluctantly approves, insisting Ben go with only his clothes, horse, saddle, and gun.
In Myrtle Point and nearby areas there were several fires last week. On Thursday around 11 pm the fire department was summoned to the Dan Barklow home on Harris street where the blaze burned out with no damage. On Sunday a gas fire was found by Chief George Hughes along a fence row between Gus Dietz place and W A Seaman’s property. brush burned but no damage. Friday at about five am the Half Moon Camp on the Coquille Myrtle Point highway burned to the ground. cause not determined.
A Coquille area report lists eight marriages performed last week by various ministers including Rev. Howard Gray Beal and Rev. Jack Wm. Jones. Licenses were issued to six couples including Carl Henry Eekhoff and Bisemer Centers and Virgil E Kenyon and Viola Lucius Ice.

Rae Maxine Steck Pierson files for divorce from John Pierson after alleging threats and a life endangering pattern. The couple, married at Myrtle Point on October 18 1906, have a seven and a half year old child and request custody and freedom from restraint.
Paul McNair son of Mr and Mrs W M McNair of Twin Oaks and Lola Norris daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Norris of this city married Saturday June 25 1988 at Roseburg. The bride has taught in Bancroft and New Lake areas and will teach this winter at Coaledo. They honeymooned at Crater Lake and will reside in Clark departments.
