Brummell 10 joins Myrtle Point police force

Robert M. Brummell age 37 will join the Myrtle Point police force July 1 1968 to fill the Patrolman position left by Richard Newman. Brummell his wife and four children move from North Bend Oregon to Roseburg road after six years with the Marion County Sheriffs Dept. Amy a grey eyed brunette from the Bay area Arg. Christiana Jerene Forsyth 19 daughter of Mrs Jerene an employee of the Credit Bureau of Coquille will be by the Copuille Jay cops and Ks Charm Center. This is Forsyths first beauty contest attempt. She stands 5 ft 2 in and weighs 106 pounds. Bay area contest winner will be Miss World Oregon and go to the national San Diego contest August 1.

Patty Pagh FHA Delegate Heads to National Meet

Patty Pagh of Myrtle Point High School will be among 1200 delegates at the 1968 National Meeting of the Future Homemakers of America July 8 to 12 in Miami Beach Florida. Highway Crash Near Ashbaugh Causes Major Vehicle Damage

On June 19, 1968 at 404 p.m. an accident occurred on the highway at Ashbaugh. Operators were George W. Hoffmas of Myrtle Point driving a 1964 Galaxy station wagon and Lloyd Alexander Sha of Los Angeles driving a Dodge Transport truck. No injuries were sustained, but the station wagon suffered major damage to its left side.

Father Fleming Takes Leave of Absence

Rev. Michael Fleming, parish priest for Powers Myrtle Point and Coquille churches, honored at a coffee hour and sent to Ireland on a year long leave. His last mass is July 7 and he departs Portland July 8. Rev. John Dg of Portland will replace him starting July 2.

Lions Install Officers in Myrtle Point Ceremony

Myrtle Point Lions Club held its installation of officers at the Coquille Valley Elks Club with District Governor Jim Gregory presiding. New officers include Joe Martinka as president and Art Evans as 1st vice president. directors John Dollarhyde, Clay Caffey, Bob McGary, and Rolland Leep were named for varying terms. Lion of the Year John Dollarhyde and a 40 year pin for Elton Schroeder were noted, as were year pins for several Lions. The Ladies Auxiliary also installed officers led by Ruth Henson as president.
