City council reconvened a public hearing on the Hamilton Art buildings at the corner of South and Maple. After discussion they require the owner to remove the entire parcel within a six month period. Clarence Serong appeared to discuss the paving project and related petitions.
Residents circulated petitions to show support if the city would assume maintenance costs for the streets improved by the project in Coquille. City officials note past projects lasted about a year and maintenance was tied to public backing.
Last minute details are set for the fourth annual Antique Car Show in Myrtle Point this Saturday with street displays from across the state, a Spaice street hill climb, and a luncheon at Myrtle Hotel. The event features the Sawdusters from Coquille, Country Gentlemen music, and trophies on display at Security Bank.
The district's board approved four new teacher contracts for Karen Chig, Don A. Dickey, Myrtle Crest, and Helen Guy. Bruce Miller earned a new teaching contract. Woodson LeSeuer resigned. Bids for a replacement bus and roofing work were awarded. a civil engineering senior project at Oregon State University was named winner. The May 29 budget election passed by a narrow margin. The board will switch to meetings on the second Wednesday during July and summer months.
Brad Ross, a former peer liaison manager in Fortville Vesley Sentinel, was named Coordinator of Heavens at the center Community College. He will assume the new role July 1 following an college information office announcement.
