Parking Meters Removed On Trial In Myrtle Point
Myrtle Point city council votes June 18 to remove parking meters on a two hour limit starting June 29. Chamber of Commerce delegation requested the change. Officials also grant a street light at 18th and Cedar and pass an ordinance to vacate part of Herman Street. Mr and Mrs Verlin Moore seek mobile home placement but are denied under trailer and zoning rules.

Myrtle Pointers can join two weeks of Red Cross led swimming classes from July 23 to August 3 with free bus transportation from Maple School. A $3 pool fee covers the full lesson period. City baseball games run Monday to Friday for various age groups at the fairgrounds and Myrtle Crest gym hosts Monday basketball practice for boys.

Fisherman Encounters Rare Large Doe on Highway
A big doe, described by driver C. E. Newell as about ten feet long, was struck on the highway between Coquille and Coos Bay. Newell, unhurt, said the deer wrecked the car front, cutting off its legs. he and his grandson Bob Newell had just returned from a weekend of trout fishing in California.
