The car, damaged except for tires and wheels, is believed to have started from faulty wiring. Twenty four carloads of logs passed through Myrtle Point last Thursday en route from Berkeley to Evans Produce at Marshfield. The Southern Pacific company shipped six carloads of ties from Broadbent this week. A carload shipped from Esterbrook and two from Myrtle Point. Hie notes SP spent about 80 000 in 1929 and this year nearly 12 000 in exports, marking log and tie traffic as a real income source for Myrtle Point.

Van Alstein and two others injured in gravel truck crash
Near Broadbent a gravel truck with H. C. Van Alstein, his son, and mechanic George Sanders left the road after a broken steering gear. The truck plunged 25 feet down an embankment, the gravel load tumbled forward, and all three were taken to Mast Hospital with mixed injuries. The accident occurred late Wednesday afternoon as they were returning to Bridge.
