Miss Kida Laird of Myrtle Point wed Herman Fred Eickmeyer of Berkeley in a noon ceremony at St. James Episcopal Church Marahfield. The rite featured floral altars, a pink and white decor, and piano music by Etoile Peck. Maid of honor Verrourd of Ukiah and friends robed in bright colors attended as vows were exchanged on the bride’s parents’ 20th anniversary.
Tom Weatherby of Gaylord escaped serious injury after being thrown from a horse on the Liprgress crest road last Thursday afternoon. He struck his head and chest and was unable to recall the event, receiving medical aid and later rejoining the pending recovery.

The M P Garden Club met at City Hall with several absentees noted. Members set aside June 24 04 5 flower day to collect and arrange bouquets for the sick and homebound with help from Campfire girls or Boy Scouts.
A rear wheel failure on a vehicle caused a crash Saturday near Upper Hall. The impact left two men injured and a passerby named Hebert Mineford stopping to help and transport them home. No further details on injuries or charges were provided.
Radio amateurs may take examinations next Wednesday June 22 at 9 am at Marsahfield City Hall. An inspector from the Federal Radio Commission will administer the tests. A fire around noon Monday razed a three story 18 room Broadbent home on the Henry Hayes ranch, with a large outbuilding and woodshed. Mrs Hall, alone in the house, noticed smoke and flames from the attic and the blaze spread quickly before Myrtle Point's fire department could arrive within 10 minutes. The barn and nearby buildings were saved, but the residence was destroyed along with a former band hall portion of the structure.
Oregon war veterans and pioneers may apply at the Herald office for reduced hunting and fishing licenses. Eligible groups include world war veterans with 28 percent or more disability, Spanish American war and Philippine insurrection veterans, Boxer rebellion veterans, Civil and Indian War veterans with one year Oregon residency, and pioneers with 60 plus years in Oregon. The reduction pegs the license at 60 cents instead of five dollars, with applications to the Oregon State Game Commission in Portland after notary sworn affirmation.

The Somer School summer term began Monday with a mixed enrollment including 16 regular scholars and several taking special subjects. The program serves students who failed subjects, need review, or want extra work, with some high school pupils joining for more intensive study. Principal F. Bummers receives credit for organizing the effort benefiting Myrtle Point students.
Gold Beach resident Dr H W Howland formerly of Myrtle Point is featured after moving to Gold Beach last winter. He wrote a story about a coast range trout fishing trip and is pictured with three fine cutthroat trout in Fur Fish and Game. He also works on a new type of trout fishing office tests in Curry County streams.
The Cops and Curry County Fair Board met at Chandler hotel Marshfield with 17 members including L H Pesree P 9 Lund and Tom Ness of the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce. They discussed the premium list and passes and decided to publish the premium list early for entries and to issue no passes as admission is cheap and gate receipts cover expenses. The next meeting is set for Tuesday July 11 at the North Bend hotel.
E C Barker started a four room modern bungalow on Fifth street between Cathcart and Harris. Edgar Rickard and Deet Barker excavate and lay the foundation with Barker assisting in spare time. The home, designed by Rickard, should be ready this fall and the Rickards hope to move in before school starts, occupying the Ralph Miller house next door which Barker previously built and sold.
The Myrtle Point Business Men's Association held a well attended meeting at city hall. Members praised improved collections and cooperative efforts to ease debt settlements without undue costs. Debtors showed readiness to pay, including roughly $1,000 in money and warrants.
The Coos Cow Testing association captured state honors for April with a Marshfield man’s record of 1028 pounds of milk and 669 pounds of butterfat per cow. Thomas Root of West Myrtle Point posted a May average of 1112.4 pounds of milk and 50.12 pounds of butterfat per cow. his herd benefited from a mineral livestock conditioner that helped maintain high production despite a poor spring.
Marshfield attorney Lilejqvist will motor to Bridge with W H Fearnley of Myrtle Point. They will attend a meeting at 8 p m to discuss benefits from the sales tax proposal and how the community may gain from it.
The Coos Bay Lumber Company won a court order for a $6001.78 refund plus costs after the state and county failed to clear a land title. The land, previously sold for logging, was later deemed government land still, unsurveyed at transfer, with taxes paid since 1907. The company had sought purchase price and tax refunds, and was reimbursed by the state for the price, with county tax refunds limited to six years back.
Dispatches reach this section announcing George Belloni as the new postmaster of Coquille. Belloni was among ranking applicants and is nephew of John Belloni of Myrtle Point, proprietor of the City Transfer.
T L Freeman of Coquille employed at William Weekly logging camp on upper Rock creek was crushed between two logs last Wednesday. His back and pelvis are fractured and he is in serious condition at Mast hospital. Frank Mecum of Bridge suffered severe scalds to the back and shoulders after removing a radiator cap from an overheated tractor at Zeff Christian’s logging camp on Big creek.
Everett Leslie 20 staying at J L Southmayd home left Friday and missed items include two revolvers and a fountain pen. Sheriff found Leslie and Clifford Parrish 15 in a Brewster Valley cabin. Parrish dismissed for lack of evidence. Leslie pled guilty to petty larceny and was sentenced to 60 days with parole after 10.
The Powers Coquille stage ceases operation on Saturday June 10 ending years of service since 1915. Financial returns do not cover higher state bond and license costs amid increased private car travel, ending a era of regional transport once run by Joe and Cody Leggett.
