Court Appoints Road Viewers and Handles Property Claims

The county court appointed B A Wimner H Kern and F A Robb of Coquille to serve as a board of viewers. It ordered quit claim deeds recorded free of charge to clear titles for several properties. It arranged land offers in Bay Park and addressed indigent relief for local residents. The docket also lists multiple civil suits, probate actions, and wage-related claims with amounts and dates.

Coos County 4-H Members Attend Summer School in Corvallis

Coos county 4-H club members left for Corvallis to attend the annual summer school at Oregon State College. Delegates include Del Bennell of Coos River who earned a scholarship for dairy club work, Ceall Laws of Ceapille Racklett Arago and Frederick Wilson of Coquille representing the Coquille Poultry club. Regular classes began June 10 with mornings for instruction and afternoons for supervised recreation.

Coos County Fair Board Sets Myrtle Point Round-Up Support

The Coos County Fair board met at Jack and Jill Cafe to approve this year’s Premium list and report fair grounds in good shape. They pledge full support for the Coos County Round-up in Myrtle Point on July 4 5 and 6 and plan entertainment between races. The next meeting is in Bandon in July.

May Auto Accident Sparks Damage Suit In Oregon

Paul Resaun has filed suit against Elbert Deen over a May 4 auto accident on the Myrtle Point Coquille highway. Resaun seeks 10 547 damages for personal injuries including multiple fractures and facial cuts claiming permanent disability and loss of livelihood as a musician earning 48 dollars weekly prior to the crash.

Bay editor Edgar McDaniel of the Coos Bay Harbor North Bend is seriously ill in a local hospital after months of poor health. His wife Mia Gordon and their son Gordon are visiting. McDaniel suffers from heart arterial hardening and is on a strict diet while hopes to be released home soon.

Coquille Girl Severely Injured in Highway Accident

Miss Grace Ricketts of Coquille suffered multiple broken ribs and internal injuries when the car she rode in on the Coquille Bandon highway was forced off the road and overturned into a swamp. She was operated on at Knife hospital in Coquille. Driver Lyle Varney escaped uninjured.

OES Adjourn For The Summer

Elgin chapter OES held its regular meeting last Thursday night and approved a July August vacation. After business, members played cards with Mrs Merwin Moller and Henry Rosslow high scorers while Mrs Mera Herman Detlefsen served as low. Refreshments were provided by Mrs Fred Scofield and Mrs H C Van Alstein.

Men entertained their wives and families at a dinner party hosted at the Goofus Nest EC Barker cabin. The Oregon Buckarooust will perform at Gravelford Community Hall Saturday night starting 8 30. Roden Rose, famed cowgirl and rope spinner, headlines with Pistol Pete and Horseshoe Charlie providing music and comedy. Cars Interlock in Powers. Passenger Severely Hurt

Wilfred Aber of Powers suffered serious injuries when a crash between a Wilson driven car and a Mathis vehicle near Morris Lane left Aber ejected over a barbed wire fence. He sustained a broken arm and fractured skull with multiple cuts. Wilson’s daughter and James Watson had minor injuries. Mathis escaped uninjured with an injured foot from a prior incident.

Townsend Day Named By Local Gub Club

The Point Tenteend club met at Round church Sunday with W. Lee leading America singing and prayer. Townsend Day was announced for July 6 with a basket dinner and a dance to raise funds for the Townsend club social. Elder Baker spoke on organization and the plans, followed by brief talks and musical entertainment by the Barklow sisters and a quartet.

Renewal Blanks Manuals and Maps For Operators

The Herald offers a 1933 operator manuals and state highway maps free for motorists. Renewal blanks for operator licenses are available with instructions to attach a dollar payment. required license renewals must be completed by June 3. Examinations are scheduled in Myrtle Point on June 21 and August 16 with state examiner Ward Mc Reynolds. The new Oregon maps include scenic points, main roads, mileage, Pacific Northwest and Portland maps with traffic regulations and town populations.

Former MPHS Star Joins Marines

Thomas L. Ostrander son of Mrs. Maude Ostrander of Myrtle Point has enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in Portland and trained at San Diego for three months. After training he will be sent to duty aboard a battleship or with existing Marine units. Ostrander was the star forward of Myrtle Point High School's 1933 county championship team and earned all county forward honors that season.

MP Man Gains Fame as Song Writer at West Myrtle Point

R E Bulson and family live on the R A Redell ranch in West Myrtle Point. His song Under the Oregon Moon scored 100 points and is popular on radio. He received word that a large publishing company has accepted five more of his compositions. Bulson is not a musician but writes catchy tunes aided by his wife who handles the recitations.

A Sitkum fire was swiftly confined with only a large hole and debris found in the ceiling. Fire crews reported no injuries and fixed the incident to prevent rekindling.

Rev E V Ostrander formerly of Myrtle Point arrived Tuesday en route to Pasadena, Calif. He previously led the local church for ten years and was in Tacoma when their son George was kidnaped. He stayed Tuesday night with the Sumerlin family and is a friend of the Weyerhaeusers.
