A car parked at 1690 Maple Street was completely burned in an early Monday fire. Myrtle Point firefighters responded at 3 a.m. Fire Chief Mitch Myers said an apparent short in the car horn may have awakened Mrs. Mooney to the smoke and flames.

Senior Citizen Day Planned at Coos County Fairgrounds
Members of senior citizen groups met at Coos County Fairgrounds to finalize plans for a Senior Citizen Day on Friday August 15. The fair board invites all over 65 for free admission and a free pass to the Christenson Brothers Rodeo evening performance. A Grove headquarters will register attendees and distribute name plates with a county lunch and activities planned.
