Memorial Day murder trial set for Oct 20
John Padgett 48, pled not guilty to murdering Fred Vetter on Memorial Day. He will stand trial Oct 20, remains jailed in Coos County without bail. Padgett, living opposite Vetter in Arago, is accused of using a .357 magnum. His attorney says he is not well but does not require hospitalization. Padgett is recovering from a self harm related wound.

Myrtle Point to Launch City Recreation Program
City recreation initiative moving forward led by Ken Ceretsky and Gerald Bennett with CET A Title I funding. Don Sinclair, a pharmacist who moved to Myrtle Point, will coordinate using school district facilities and city parks.
