Bridge fire district election postponed to Sept 21

Parks director eyes park upgrades ahead of County Fair

Myrtle Point's new parks chief Don Sinclair aims to finish Lehnherr Park improvements for the County Fair. An asphalt surface is due on the tennis basketball court within two weeks, with a regulation tennis court and six backboards. Two half courts will flank the tennis court, with two east side aprons. Nets may not be up in time. Hose theft hurts upkeep as crews aerate fertilize and water thin grass. Police report two Goldbury brothers in jail after DUI and mischief charges following a late night cell disturbance. Charles faces menacing and DUIL counts. Kenneth charged with criminal mischief for tearing from a patrol car. They live in Myrtle Point.

Myrtle Point High football practice starts August 23

Myrtle Point High School announces 1976 football practice begins August 23 with physicals at Myrtle Point Medical Center on August 12 for seniors and juniors and August 13 for sophomores and freshmen. Gear issues occur August 23 and 25 before a 1 pm practice start. band rehearsals begin August 9 for School District 41 students.

Bond Issue Election Planned for Sept 21 by District 41

The District 41 School Board scheduled a $406 000 bond issue election for September 21 to fund a multi purpose room and a music facility at Myrtle Crest Middle School. The project totals 529 290 with 122 000 from Coos Bay Wagon Road Funds. Officials cite a possible annual tax impact of about 12 60 per year for eight years per 30 000 borrowed. The August 9 meeting was canceled and the next meeting is August 26.
