The Coos County Court last week approved a detailed resolution establishing park rules. Prohibited actions include fires outside designated areas, damaging property, littering, unpermitted concessions, and unleashed pets, with penalties and permissions governed by the court.
A humorous local column follows Jack Sturza a rural woodsman whose promise to take his two young sons to Disneyland collapses as he navigates urban maze like San Francisco. He wanders circles through freeways and housing developments finally aiming for the San Francisco Zoo before retelling another misadventure on the row.
Mr Palmerton, new Rotary District 511 governor for Oregon and supervisor of 36 clubs, was welcomed by Klamath Falls Rotary. The visit followed his July 1 start and Rotary convention election in Tokyo. Members heard his plans for the upcoming fiscal year during a weekly luncheon.
Betty Switlik of Empire and her 21 year old husband Donald Switlik suffered serious injuries when their 59 Ford left Highway 42 near Myrtle Point late Sunday night. The couple were hospitalized. Donald was released the next day and Betty remained in care Tuesday afternoon. The car was a total loss as reported by state police.
The Angiers brightened up by announcing a sale. The LaPariettes put their Coquille home on the market and will move to Myrtle Point after sale. New motel in Megs building, new Mason office, new Anglers operators, and other changes follow the new Safe power.
Elks gathering highlighted events across ages with egg throwing races for adults and children, amid a lively afternoon. Dill Head led the sports program as the Mobile-7 Plus Orchestra played while picnickers danced and enjoyed the music. Continued on Page 10.
Myrtle Point Post Office staffer Art Ratcliffe rendered first aid at a three car wreck on Highway 42 near Camas Valley Saturday afternoon. Fred Minard of Sitkum Route drove one car. a Camas Valley woman suffered serious injuries and was moved to Roseburg Hospital for further treatment. Minard was released after treatment.
The annual Coos County Shriners Picnic is set for next Sunday July 96 at Mast Grove in Lee Valley. All Shriners and Masons are invited.
Recreation program adds tennis with sessions starting next Monday at 1 38 PM on West Side park courts. About 88 youngsters have enjoyed the program so far in recent weeks with mixed instruction and expert guidance continuing.
