Market Grinder Accident Leaves Three Fingers Amputated

Two separate injuries occurred at Pourier Bros. market after noon Saturday. EK E McKee lost three middle fingers of the left hand while his hand slipped into a sausage grinder. he underwent amputation and stayed in hospital overnight. Fred Andrus cut several layers from his left hand while chopping with a cleaver and received medical care. Alfred Miller, brother in law, took over market duties temporarily.

Pioneers Picnic Set for Coquille Sunday

The annual Coos County pioneers picnic will be held in the Coquille Myrtle Grove this Sunday. All pioneers, friends, and youths are invited to attend with a lunch. A noonday program and lunch at 12 13 will be followed by speaking and singing. Free coffee, cream, and sugar will be provided by the committee.

Critically ill at his home is Lewellen, retired Myrtle Point grocer formerly of Norway General Store and Lewellen's Grocery. He later ran a general store in Yonalla before retiring due to heart trouble after health problems and a travel period.

Skull Fracture Yet Bright Prospects For Boy

Four year old John Donald Hunt son of J W Hunt of the Safeway family suffered a skull fracture when a baseball bat swung during a Sunday beach picnic struck him. A physician reports the boy will likely recover well though the incident caused serious injury.

City Council Calls For Bids On Sewer

Myrtle Point city council in regular session approved a call for bids for sewer construction in the new southeastern district. A rooming house license for Myrtle Inn was granted to Mrs Lula Whotrey. The water superintendent was authorized to buy repairs for supply pumps at the pumping plant.
