President Ford yielded to producer pressure and lifted regulations preventing sodium cyanide use on public lands. The executive order funds livestock protection, permits M-44 use in backcountry predator control, and allows interstate shipments after a Wyoming court blocked EPA limits.
DMV official reassures Coquille residents that Motor Vehicles Division remains in Coquille with added staff and five day drive tests. Highway permits continue there and a new building near the courthouse is under construction, with moving planned this fall from 70 E Second Street.
Oregon families will host nearly 80 Japanese youths while over 30 Oregon youths depart for a four week stay in Japan. Lois Redman 4 H Extension specialist notes the program aims at people to people understanding. The exchange is run by the Sabo International Exchange Foundation with Labo clubs that meet weekly in homes to study English.
Former World Champion sheep shearer Godfrey Bowen of New Zealand will appear at the Coos County Fair on Thursday August 14 through Saturday August 16. Bowen will judge sheep and demonstrate shearing on the midway, with Johnny Delp and his trained animal act also on the schedule along with local acts and senior citizens events.
