Senator Hugh Scott accused Representative Charles Porter of avoiding a debate on Porter’s record in Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. Scott spoke at a Republican gathering, saying Porter had kept silent on the challenge while Kennedy’s record was criticized.
Edwards, star of the Edwards Electric firm, plans to sell his business and relocate with his wife and four children. McCaffree, long employed by Hansen Electric Co. of Coos Bay, will move to Mystle if he can secure a new position. Edwards will stay at least until a suitable buyer or opportunity arises, with a luncheon held at Inn, Coos Bay, drawing about 100 attendees.
The Coos Curry Pioneer and Historical Association will hold its annual picnic Sunday July 31 in the North Bend Community building. An officers election will occur for the coming year.
