Empire Couple Injured In Auto Accident Near Powers
Mr and Mrs Frank R H Makey of Empire were injured when their car left Hayes Hill on the Myrtle F Point Powers highway and rolled 300 feet down a steep embankment. Makey has severe head injuries and a broken right arm. Mrs Makey suffers several broken ribs. Six other occupants were shaken but uninjured. First aid was given by Schroeder and Frater ambulances. Oliver Pete Mast returned from Astoria. his wife is hospitalized there after knee surgery. He plans to return with her once she can be moved.

Arthur E Snyder retired from Southern Pacific after thirty years with the Pacific division since 1917. For twenty years he oversaw refueling stock and served as watchman for the night train at Pow era area. He owns a berry ranch on the Roseburg highway and plans to farm full time, replanting Logan berries and expanding his berry stock. He has planted a field of strawberries and will be known as Art Snyder gentleman farmer.

Logging Worker Injured In Fall At Hall Creek
Roy Thurman of Route 2 Caos Bay suffered a hip injury after a 93 fall from a Caterpillar during logging on Hall Creek ten miles west of Myrtle Pent. He was employed by Bright Bros. Logging of North Bend and transported to Mast Hospital by ambulance.
