Newly elected Myrtle Point Rotary officers took over at a Thursday dinner meeting. Walter Barklow became president with M. J. Myers introducing officers and new directors Earl Roush Bob Parsons Harold Rushing Hubert Armstrong and Harold Rushing. Botavians viewed Pacific Power & Light Co development pictures with Henry Spargo on the projector.
At recent school meetings in the Etalka and Broadbent districts, new directors were chosen. Etalka elected Harri son Floyd and Lewis Sell of Gaylord for five and one year terms respectively. Broadbent reelected Glenn Gulstrom for a five year term.

Eight Scouts from Troop 99 will depart Myrtle Point Saturday July 6 at 7:00 for a six day trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron New Mexico. They will gather at the Scout Building by 6:30 to load gear for the journey.
Peggy Dayton placed third in Coos County beauty pageant sponsored by the Coos Bay Pirates to select Miss Coos County for a state wide contest at Seaside July 26 to 28. Shir ley Ann Statham of Coos Bay won and Carol Koehler was first runner up. The gala event climaxed the contest.
Ben Brodie age 14 son of Mayor and Mrs Scoop Brodie will depart Saturday with his parents for Eugene Oregon to join Boy Scouts from the district on a Pullman to the National Boy Scouts Jamboree at Valley Forge Pennsylvania. The itinerary includes stops at New York and Washington DC. Six Coos county Scouts will attend aided by a $30 donation from the Coquille Odd Fellows lodge.
Al Wyld announces the next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held at the Al Pierce Lumber mill at noon on Monday July 15. A box lunch will follow the mill inspection. attendees should notify Russ Papineau at the Myrtle Hotel to ensure lunches. Elton Schroeder arranged the tour. Ray Getchell led the June Jubilee report and Bill Downing and George Linn spoke about attending the International Lions convention in San Francisco with Ralph Whitaker.
The town announces July 8 start dates for swimming at Coquille pool for Myrtle Point youths with bus transport from Maple Primary. Pee-Wee Baseball is postponed during two weeks of swimming lessons and resumes July 22. Tennis runs July 8 to 19 with possible extension. Weekly schedules include swim 8-12, tennis 3-5, and basketball 7:30.
