Coos County's 1973 average employment rose 4.2 percent to 22 720, led by non manufacturing gains. Unemployment fell to a 10 year low of 6.5 percent with 4 570 jobless, while manufacturing held steady at about 6 300.
The Myrtle Point School District asks voters on February 19 to approve a bond to fund additions and modernization at the high school. Planned improvements cover a welding shop metal shop drafting math and physics classrooms an art room and a converted armory to a guidance area. The project aims to meet state standards and prevent loss of funds if deficiencies persist.

The Coos County Mental Advisory Board will hold a meeting tonight Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Neighborhood Facility Building. All interested persons are invited to attend.
Fort Atkinson editor William D Knox will headline the 80th annual Oregon Dairyman's Association meeting December 4 6 at the Holiday Inn Medford. The gathering will address herd health breeding marketing legislation taxation energy conservation and environment with Knox as a key speaker.
