They will discuss securing stock for the county fair rodeo and potential date changes from August 27 to August 13. A Cub Scouts pack meeting follows Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Scout building.
Mountain States Power Co announces a reduction of the Coos Bay electric surcharge from 20 percent to 10 percent starting with February billing. The change follows a Public Utility Commission order and aims to spread the excess cost recovery over February through April while preserving reliability.
Chamber of Commerce members will gather Monday at noon for a regular meeting and luncheon at the Myrtle Hotel. Everyone is urged to attend as plans for the new year are in the making.

Mr and Mrs Henry Schroeder left Saturday by plane for Portland where they were guests of Mr and Mrs Stanley Phillips for a few days. They plan to return Wednesday by plane.
About twenty five people attended the January 20 oral auction with only one of two tracts receiving bids. John Hawkins of Irwin Lyons Lumber Co bid $70 458.75 for 3070 thousand board feet of salvage timber damaged by the 1951 Middle Creek fire. The other tract drew no bids and will stay open for 90 days. Sealed bids on three other sales included R J McCarthy of Coos Bay bidding 15453.50 for 685 M bd ft and Emil Belcher of Myrtle Point bidding 3366.50 for 210 bd ft. The next regular sale is planned for early February.
The 1952 Christmas Seal sale for Myrtle Point and Broadbent raised 651.97 dollars, surpassing last year’s 617.07. An average 79 cents per returned letter accompanied the effort, with the B Seal Sale in Myrtle Point led by the Business and Professional Women’s Club under chairwoman Mrs Ralph Kring. The Coos County TB and Health Association plans an all out X ray survey starting February 17, seeking broad organizational support for upcoming meetings.
The Union High School contest saw the seniors win with 50 of 75 throws. Team members Harrison Bryant Dick Walton and Monte Lund led the victory while freshmen were second with 46 of 75. Biawnt led individuals with 19 of 25 and Merlin Gasner followed with 18 of 25.
Oregon Selective Service System urges all eligible young men to register without delay. Colonel Francis Mason, deputy state director, warns local boards report ongoing delinquencies with men who should have registered months or years ago. He says immediate self presentation benefits the individual.
The Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club calls an urgent meeting for Tuesday February 3 to discuss matters tied to building projects. All members are urged to attend due to pressing business.
Mr and Mrs Robert Keith announce the arrival of a month old son adopted by the family. The baby has been named David Russell. The Keiths already have an adopted daughter Susan aged five.
Myrtle Point begins a February special election to float a 100000 bond to fund a sewage disposal plant with state orders pressing completion by July 1. A 25000 bond for a new city library would be tax levied, funded by an anticipated two mill increase.
Proceeds from a Sunday trap shoot staged by the Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club along with Lions and Active clubs raised about 50000 for the Community building. Organizers Harold Watzling V V Hagedorn and Dale Wade credited volunteers and weather challenges for the success and announced plans for another event in the future.
Myrtle Point police report a teenage youth apprehended by Chief Vines after seven disturbances by a prowler nicknamed Peeping Tom. The suspect was released to parents with no charges pressed as no additional reports followed.
The state highway commission in Portland on January 21-22 received bids for 28 construction projects totaling about 10 million dollars. Of this, roughly 4.6 million is bond financed. In Coos and Douglas counties bids were submitted to furnish and place 10 700 cubic yards of crushed material for the Coos Bay Roseburg highway between Endicott Creek and Mystic Creek east of Myrtle Point.
Coquille reorganized Blue Pacific pattern and round dance club drawing members from Myrtle Point Coos Bay and Bandon. Wilson McCulloch teaches and classes meet Wednesdays at Coquille high school gym. Guests and new members welcome.
The initial cash gifts toward the proposed Common building were made by the dance pupils of Magdalene Vance, not the American Legion as previously stated. The Legion did purchase the first bond and remains the first service group to donate.
Local Board No. 15 Coos Bay reports area men ordered for induction and departing Coos Bay at 2:00 p m Wednesday January 18 for the Portland Induction Station. Names include Hathaway Jones Aasen Clarno Sackett Martinda Meritt Hollenbeck Schall Brock Russell Robbins Lowery Rath DeMartin Crockett and others from Coos Bay North Bend Gold Beach Taft and nearby towns.
