Myrtle Point B P W members joined Coquille club guests for an evening program led by Ce celle Galey state legislative chairman of the Oregon Federation of Business Women's clubs. The talk on intolerance included club activities and efforts to combat this trait. Georgia May Moller led in song with Inez Rover accompanying, as Coquille members served refreshments. Myrtle Point attendees listed include Georgia May Moller Adella Riley Beulah Brown Helen Dobbin Harriet Harper Florence Miller Florence Sumerlin Lucy Barker Emma Gurney Dolores Neal Betty Stem and Mary Jane Wilberger.
In a call with Mountain States Power Co manager Mr. Mead the city council learned Myrtle Point will not have the new lighting system before mid March or early April due to equipment shortages. Mr Head urged continued conservation from 4 30 to 6 30 during peak hours and thanked residents for past cooperation.

Arthur Smith of Powers won first place in the Lions Club Steelhead Derby weighing 11 lb 12 02. The derby extends to a ninth week with holdover prizes offered from January 31 to February 6. An 8 year old girl, Judith M. Vaine, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Vaine, died Sunday night after poliomyelitis infections in Myrtle Point. Dr Eleanor Gutman, Coos County Health Doctor, said the case is not epidemic and there is no cause for alarm despite investigations into local conditions.
The Myrtle Creek team defeated Coquille 55 to 31 on Friday and beat the Myrtle Creek Vikings 43 to 35 on Saturday, with the Myrtle Creek squad delivering a strong effort that kept opponents on their toes and earned two wins.
Myrtle Point PTA funds to support a civic cause as the Father versus Faculty basketball game is held at the high school gym Friday at 8 p.m. George Linn chairs the event with Curt Beckham promoting the faculty team. Tickets already sold will be honored.

Charles B Morris, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Robert Morris of Powers Ore, died in England from a defective flue in a hut while serving. His body arrived in California for burial with military honors at Golden Gate National Cemetery San Bruno on Wednesday at 2 15 pm. Burial previously occurred at an American military cemetery near London. Wanda Morris of Portland may attend. extended trip by Mr and Mrs Leslie Finney and grandson Eddie Woodring begins shortly.
