Myrtle Point Bobcats overcome Bandon Tigers 48 to 44 after a tight game. Dick Down led with 16 points while Rich Gassman added 11 as Myrtle Point pulled ahead in the final period.
The Coquille Valley Elks sponsor the Kon dite Klondike dance next Saturday with Leo Purley band from Coos Bay. Dancing 10 to 2 with a crab feed 8 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets at the clubhouse. Mitchell Cain, twice on Ed Sullivan, opens with a first night club act. A Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. for youngsters ends with a chicken dinner priced at 9 cents adults and 76 cents children under 14.
The Stop and Shop drawing at 2 p.m. Saturday awards $500 to eight names with $100 to each present. Two weeks ago six names were drawn. two winners were present for a $600 jackpot. To win you must be registered with a participating merchant and be in the store when announced. Present winners receive $100 each, with five chances overall.

A Powers woman faced a district court arraignment delayed to Jan 30 after a pursuit that damaged a sheriff's car a local police cruiser and her vehicle. The case stems from a traffic warrant and an alleged evasion of officers during service. Bail was set at 15 dollars for the initial charge and 150 dollars for the reckless driving charge. her attorney did not plead, and trial actions may follow.

Five thousand pounds of exceptional crab will be served with garlic bread potato salad green salad home made desserts and coffee. Proceeds go to the Charleston Fire Department with a flat $1.75 adult and $1.00 child under 12 charge.
Cub Pack 99 will meet Tuesday January 3 at 7 30 p m in the Myrtle Crest gym. The theme Knights of Yore has the cubs arriving as knights of the round table in armor. Costumes will be judged and a prize awarded for best suit of armor.
Civil Defense Director Clarence Ralph outlines an immediate emergency shelter plan for Myrtle Point with 11 designated shelters, captains, and cultural spiritual support. Each shelter has a capacity, a named captain, and a radiological officer, with future limits and resident contact to be arranged.
