Coos County dairymen attend the Oregon Dairymen's Association annual meeting in Coquille at the Odd Fellows hall on Friday and Saturday January 21 and 22. The program features talks on Bang's Disease dairy cattle fertility fats and a banquet with reports and elections to conclude the session.
Chester W Frohmacher 41 was arrested Wednesday of last week in Marshfield on a driving while intoxicated charge and fined 300. Laurel Garen Keller 28 faced forgery charges after forging and passing about 40 dollars in checks. John Kirby, Joseph Rett, and Michael Two Bey pled guilty and were sent to prison for terms up to two years. Sheriff Howell transported Keller to Salem and secured extradition papers for Ernest Ely, held on a burglary charge in Powers.
Mrs. Fred Lafferty hosted an informal church social in the social rooms after a previous Wednesday gathering. Plans were made for a music revue the first of February. Refreshments included finger sandwiches cake and coffee served by the hostess to Zella May Moon Bernice Gillespie Alleen Osborne Marianna Steele Gilda Dietz Marie Clinton and others.

Narnon Medford of Powers has enlisted in the United States Army. He took the oath at Vane wiser Barrack Woosh and will serve with the 7th United States Infantry Company for duty under Army recruiting officer Moo HD Bagnall.
John Holmes, who began as a messenger for Swift & Company 21 years ago, became president succeeding G. F. Swift. He leads an organization of 60,000 employees focused on dressing livestock and nationwide distribution of meat poultry eggs butter cheese and by products. Mr Swift remains active as vice chairman.
Arle A Helt and Vic's Campbell wed January 11 at the clergyman's home with Rev Joel R Renter officiating. A license was issued for Jane Qunty H Man Haughton and LaDelphia Gswold. Marshfield couple wed by Trev J R Berten at the minister's home. NenA Price and Lillian Barbara Smith of North Bend received licenses. Charles Potts and Betty Lou Keschum of North Bend obtained no license this Saturday.
A CCC supply truck driver believed the Monte Pont to Brewster Valley route was clear but found it blocked on a small hill near the Abernethy place. He walked to Howe store to call for two trucks and a caterpillar to pull the truck free while cars waited.
The 99 men met Tuesday night at the Church of Christ with record attendance. They planned fundraising for evangelistic work in the county. Orin Harderbrook of Coquille spoke for new members, with harmonica and guitar music, a vocal duet, and a reading by E W Buckner. The meeting closed with a potluck dinner.
The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday night to plan a membership campaign benefiting the unemployed. Leaders BEC Roberts and Eugene Laird led opposing teams, Bert Pearson proposed transients relief ideas, and plans were discussed to place Myrtle Point on the Coos Junction sign and beautify the cemetery project while stressing understanding of unemployment acts.
Father D J Kelly arrives this week from St Stephens Church Portland to take over duties from Father William J Mc Leod who has served here since last June and will be transferred to the parish.
City arrests Earl Frank Wood fined $3 and costs for no clearance lights on his truck. Fred C Lafferty of Myrtle Point and Lloyd Clifford Mast of Leeberg each fined $3 and costs for having no taillight. Leonard A Duncan of Bridge fined $3 and costs for driving without a vehicle license. Sam C Looney fined $5 and costs for installing a shooting gallery in the bowling alley without license.
The Port of Coquille River commission met Tuesday to elect officers. Thomas Guerin was reelected president, Jesse Clinton vice president, J N Gearhart secretary, and Fred True treasurer. The Head was named official newspaper and Security Bank the depository for funds.
Townsend club invites the public to hear Dr Gordon Ware, an economist and Townsend representative, at 2 p.m. next Sunday in the club hall. The meeting also reviewed the Coprallis district convention, with H M MacLean reporting, and announced new officers and committee chairs.

Charles Wilson, son of Mr and Mrs Elm Wilson, was severely burned Sunday while adding wood to a fireplace in Brewster Valley. His hair and eyebrows were singed, a portion of his forehead burned, and his face reddened. Doctors report the injuries not serious and likely to heal.
The Presbyterian Church choir held a social after a Wednesday rehearsal in the social room. Ten attendees enjoyed refreshments of cakes coffee and candy. Officers were elected including Mrs Fred Laffey as president and Miss Rose Soth as secretary treasurer.

Myrtle Point city council accepted bids for cleaning grading and road work at the new pump house. Mayor E C Barker and councilmen Ralph Kring Sam Breuer Tom Sumerlin and Merlin D Evans attended. The meeting covered only routine business beyond the bids.
Mrs Louie Baxter of Myrtle Point and Charles E Pox of Langlois were married in a small ceremony at 4 PM Sunday at the clergyman's home performed by De T M White. Miss Corrine Baxter witnessed. James Matte was a witness. The groom owns a Langlois farm and is a felony resident of the county. the bride has lived in the city eight years.
