The Pomona Grange held an all day meeting Tuesday at Menina with newly elected master Irvin Peterson in the chair. Officers were named and the Bonneville Power issue discussed. Henry Gustafson, Martin Schmid, and August Will were appointed to study it. Past Overseer Glover, Master Perry, and Hans Gustafson spoke on Orange history. About seven Grange members are in the county. The next Grange council meeting will be the first Wednesday in March with North Bayside Grange, and Pomona will meet with North Bayside in April.
Mrs Willam Horrows and Mrs Alice Maxwell of Marshfield visited Myrtle Point this week with Mrs E Barker to organize a Red Cross first aid course. The program will run 920 hours on weeknights at city hall starting February. The course welcomes men and women and inquiries should be directed to Mrs E Barker. Instructors to be announced.
An accident at a Dora tie mill injured mill owner Merbert W Preston when a falling log struck him as he hauled timber. Preston, 44, a Portland native, died instantly. his head and neck injuries were fatal. His wife, a nurse at Vancouver General Hospital, survives with two daughters. The body was shipped to Vancouver by motor hearse.
Miss Doris Mac Sohnton and Thomas E Nelson wed at 2 PM on Wednesday December 22, 1937, by Rev Howard Graybeal in the Meth odial parsonage in Coquille. The reception followed in the Pleasant Point district with many local families in attendance as they begin married life.
Elton Schroeder of Myrtle Point will again be prominently identified with the President's Birthday Ball in Coos County this year as county chairman instead of local. He received wire notice from Washington last week.
The state Employment Service plans weekly visits to small towns and rural districts to register unemployed workers and help file unemployment claims at local sites. Applicants must register for a job if they had work covered by the unemployment compensation law and may receive weekly benefits after a two week waiting period, with visits scheduled at city halls and community centers beginning in January.

Postmaster Elton Schroeder reports Myrtle Point Post Office has been placed in second class for the second time in history. 1937 sales of stamp stock and box rent totaled about 11 000 dollars, with money orders numbering 41 9608 compared to 10 922 in 193? The 1937 money value reached 116 782 36 dollars, up from 103 917 56 in 1936. The change raises the postmaster salary by 100 dollars and keeps the financial window open during mail distribution.

E L Peterson of the North Bay side community was elected president of the Coos County Dairymen's association for 1938 at the annual meeting in Coquille. E. L. Detlefsen of Coquille was elected vice president and Grayden Anderson of Coquille, secretary treasurer. Nine directors named include Joe Delsman, C J Huntley, E L Clausen, M M Schmidt, Joe Nilsen, Ben Monson, Jas T Jenkins, John Carl, and Charlies Mehaffy. A Bang's disease report praised testing in 1937 with reactors removed and no further authority requests for veterinarians. Two members were added to plan next State Dairymen's meeting in Coquille January 21-22.
Walter Gell McGegor 52 was arrested in Curry County on grand larceny with bail set at 1500 dollars. In North Bend, John Kerby 80 Joseph Reis 37 and Michael Twobey 47 faced burglary charges not in a dwelling tied to a local grocery theft. all three are serving 30 days in county jail after pleading guilty. Steve Hyer 24 and Glenn Spara gis 22, also in North Bend, charged with hose theft. both are serving 30 days in jail. Hugh Freeley 41 charged with larceny of 60 dollars from a person. bail set at 1500, awaiting grand jury. Gov. Coates 14 released after delinquency charge. Ear Livingston 44 in Coquille fined 100 dollars and costs with a 30 day suspended jail term. Harry Slater 40 detained for intoxication, fined 5 dollars and costs. Chan Guey 46 alias Tom Wing, Coquille Case proprietor, handed to federal authorities for deportation after immigration arrest. Barney B. Conway 48 jailed for illegal possession of deer meat. 60 day sentence with 50 days suspended. Harvey Kenneth Arnst 16 charged with burglary not in a dwelling.
The Interchurch Fellowship meeting occurred Monday evening at the Church of Christ. About six participants attended before a brief business session followed.
State homemakers are invited to the Home Interest Conference in Corvallis starting Monday February 7 with Mr Swarth presiding. The sixth annual Oregon Home Economics Extension Council meeting runs with the Home Interests Conference and Coos County club officers listed. Transportation or information help is available from Mrs Jessie Ingram at the Coquille courthouse.
James Edward Schoolcraft sues Ferne Nelle Schoolcraft in Chicago marriage of 1928 seeking custody of three daughters ages six to fourteen amid claims of cruel treatment and improper associations. Anthony Thompson seeks divorce from Oxelle R. Thompson in Washington DC marriage 1918 with no children and requests a third interest in real estate plus alimony and costs. Ida challenges Walter M. Christensen in Astoria marriage 1938 with no children, alleging desertion since 1933.

State leader Miss Helen Cowgill led judging from club exhibits. She also spoke at Allegany school and met with Coos River and Eastside schools.
Forrest Russell Hubbard was hauled into Justice E A Dodge's court Saturday to answer to a charge of driving without an operator's license. He was fined five dollars and costs.
Marylou Paetehold, 15, of Portland, named Oregon State 4-H champion in food preparation by Ratension Leaders after completing 10 projects. She prepared 516 dishes, baked 303 dozen cookies, 2119 cakes, 106 loaves of bread, 8 excm rolls, and planned 178 meats, earning an all expense trip to the 16th National Club Congress in Chicago, Nov 26 to Dec 4, with a chance to win regional prizes and scholarships.
