Idaho visitors Mrs Josephine Parsons Rex and family from Blackfoot were visiting A A Baker’s home.
Bruce Henry, his daughter Katherine, and Mrs. Warren Deyoe returned last Thursday from On tare where they visited for a week. They reported progress on the Myrtle Dale Davy project during their travels.
The National Defense Book campaign drive at the library continues for three months ending April 12. Mrs. Cal M. King reports many books turned in and urges readable works for service men. Arithmetic and geometry texts are in demand for advanced ratings exams, along with good fiction and other readable books.
The Girls' Service club met at Union High School to elect officers and plan weekly meetings. Florence Axe was named president with Mavis Green as vice president and Elizabeth Pearson as secretary among others. Leaders for Paper Collecting and three work groups were announced, including Ruth Jaynes guiding a waste paper canvass after a 600 pound collection last Saturday.
Federal use tax on motor vehicles requires purchase of special revenue stamps at local post offices. First payment of 2.09 dollars due February 1 covering February through June 1942, with a second stamp of 5 dollars due by July 1942 for July 1942 to June 1943.
