Mrs A M Suntrup learns of the death of her father Edward H Wellinghoff at age 62 in Springfield on New Year's Day. Wellinghoff was a prominent figure in state politics, retiring about five years ago after work in the warrant department and the state treasurer's office.
South Ward records the death of P A Spani formerly of Myrtle Point after a 15 year residence in Oregon. He died of heart trouble Saturday in Pixley California, leaving widow Maud Spani and a son Paul. Spani worked with Merle Poland and Henry Hermann in local blacksmith shops and previously homesteaded on South Catching Creek before moving to Myrtle Point and later California.
A city council meeting on Monday night appointed members to the library board. Reappointed were Mira N GW Perkans and Marlin Evans, with other nominees including Beth Bark and Walter works noted as considered.
A fire last Thursday destroyed a bunkhouse at the V Hagedorn logging camp above Remote. Occupants, about to soak and away from the blaze, could not save belongings. Loss estimated around 400 dollars.

A Friday morning crash at Cayford on the Robert Cannon ranch damaged two cars driven by Mrs. Josephine Neal and James Piggott. Neal and Mrs. Ellen Goosela and Goosela’s young son were shaken. Goosela had a cut and an injured knee. No serious injuries reported.
