Area School Plan Studied In Coquille Meeting
Representatives from Myrtle Point Powers Bandon and Coquille join state education officials and Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coquille to explore a possible area high school or consolidation. Each district faces expansion needs with Myrtle Point seeking a new high school Powers an elementary and Coquille a new junior high. A joint area high school would include vocational technical and agriculture programs. State and federal aid may support the technical divisions. District 41 Superintendent Joe Rewart has discussed the idea with Coquille and Powers boards ahead of the January 7 meeting to plan long range schooling for the valley at lower taxpayer cost.
