Bicentennial group plans first meeting in Myrtle Point

The Myrtle Point Bicentennial committee will hold its first meeting of the year on January 8 at 7 30 p.m. at the media center in Myrtle Crest. Bud Bick urges town organizations to send a representative to discuss goals for the Bicentennial year including an Old Fashioned Fourth celebration and school activities tied to the Bicentennial theme.

Coos Residents Seek DEQ Impact Study And Local Control

Citizens in Coos County press for a statewide environmental impact study of the DEQ and urge restoring local restaurant and water inspections. Officials argue state rules cost time and money, while county health leaders note staffing changes and increased health hazards without county oversight. The Board of Commissioners will consult the Cyus Curry Economic Development committee about conducting an economic impact study.

Hazen president of Ben Franklin Federal Savings and Loan and newly elected head of the United States League of Savings Associations will address a Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce meeting at Tubby's Restaurant at 7 40 a m The visit marks openings for Ben Franklin branch offices in Coquille and Bandon with a mobile unit to start January 6 expansion plans to Gold Beach and Port Orford. Hazen led growth from 380 million in 1939 to 820 million in 1975 and oversees 4600 member institutions representing 98 percent of the 322 billion dollar savings and loan industry

NHS Trees Pick Up Fundraiser By High School Club
