Deputy collectors of the Treasury department will be in Myrtle Point Jan 6 to aid farmers with Forms 1040 ES for 1947 and the preparation and filing of 1947 income tax returns. Other taxpayers will be assisted at the announced location.

Myrtle Lodge No 76 AF and AM members attended Sunday evening services in a body at the Methodist church. Rev W A Briggs spoke on Building a Faith for Today and Chester Weed with Mrs Zula Noyes sang The Lord's Prayer. This may be the first time the lodge has gathered for church attendance.

Twelve Victory medals were issued to eligible veterans Tuesday December 23 at the American Legion meeting in Myrtle Point. Three American Defense medals also issued. Sergeant William H. Walter E. Higgins left Friday evening for Denver to testify as a United States witness in the case of a car stolen last fall and left at Higgins and Morrieh’s service station for repairs. The vehicle was reported stolen in Denver and then brought to town for work.

County clerk L Oddy announced a new supply of dog license receipts and metal tags. Starting January 2 1948 owners must license each dog eight months or older for a two dollar fee. Tags will show the county name year and license number.
