Senior Class Dinners for AFS Project at $5 Plate

Eight Downtown Buildings Rated Dangerous Condition
Myrtle Point city officials inspected eighty one downtown buildings to assess conformity with city building and fire zone codes. Of the 81, 18 were AA or excellent, 28 A-1 fair, five A poor, and the rest B C 1D or F. eight buildings were dangerous. Owners Floyd LaFariette announce a complete Myrtle Hotel renovation. Painters started Monday painting 17 second floor rooms with nine carpeted. lobby coffee shop and halls also to be refreshed. Exterior will get new box springs inner springs and bedding for the entire hotel. The hotel’s banquet room hosts meetings luncheons and banquets and remains a favored gathering place.

January Girl of the Month Named at Sitkum School
Sandy Leibelt the daughter of Mr and Mrs James Leibelt of Sitkum route was chosen January Girl of the Month at a school pep assembly on February 15. She received a necklace cor sage and pen plus a potted plant from Phyllis Cunningham. She serves as secretary treasurer of Future Teachers of America and secretary of the senior class and Herald reporter. She is also a member of the International Relations club and has chaired the Girls League Christmas party refreshment committee and acted in the senior class play.
