Tom Mereford and Angus bulls joined the Guerin and Dement families in a Red Bluff bull sale. The deal included stock from Chandler Herefords at Baker and Hereford Ranch at Harrisburg, with additional fords noted.
Ben Elliott pastor of the Arab Community church announces a monthly Youth for Christ crusade. The event runs 7 30 p m to about 9 p m with a February 16 meeting featuring the film Venture for Victory about a basketball team.
Team One led by Jack McLarrin and Howard Hancock posted a 56 in round five at the Coquille Valley Golf and Country Club on Sunday with McLarrin shooting one under par. Team 11 led by Mrs Belanger and Mrs Stein posted 98 net and 69 gross as 13 teams compete. The next round is set for next Sunday and members are reminded to submit 9 hole scores for handicaps ahead of the Spring Championship. Fritz Barksow notes the course is in top condition and invites participation in outdoor golf.
Myrtle Point PTA honored seven presidents during a Feb evening meeting at Idle Crest school. Chuck Humble spoke and presented a film on the Rinner. Fifth grade received refreshments, and Mrs Bidon Miller’s third grade on Spruce Street won the room prize for the third time.
The Coquille Chamber of Commerce and Coos County Board of Commissioners announced an agreement with state agencies to build a fish ladder near Middle Creek Falls, a Coquille River tributary. Volunteers raised 16 18 in materials and cash. donations came from Georgia Pacific Kronenberg Logging and others. 8 000 plus in cash from 12 groups.

County Fair trustees announce expansion of the livestock building funded by federal emergency loan funds. The south end will be converted and the north end extended 80 feet to add space for culinary horticulture and chicken divisions with restrooms and showers. Future plans include a culinary and flower building in the oak grove.
County Extension Agent Fred Hagelstein reports on 116 soil tests from last fall, showing two thirds of crop land tests reveal potassium efficiency, phosphorus largely deficient, and notes on fertilizer programs. Cranberry bog sampling yielded up to 100 percent depth variance. future tests may focus on the organic top layer.
A flash fire started by Coos Bay Timber Company on Rock Creek Tuesday morning burned rapidly by afternoon officials said. Five or six men were to remain in the Rock Creek area overnight Tuesday.
