N A Meteris, 69, of North Bend, was taken into custody on an insanity complaint and sent to the state hospital at Salem. Wm. H. Wagner, 26, of Marshfield, arrested on reckless driving. fined $35, serving at the county jail. Tyrrell, 28, arrested on intoxication charge, violated parole. suspended sentence affected. Theo. G. Rushing, 38, of Bay Park, fined $100 for driving while intoxicated and serving a suspended jail term. arrest at Marshfield.
George Isaac and Caroline Virginia Cribbin, both 18 and of Bancroft, received marriage licenses at the county courthouse Tuesday. Elder Charles H. Barklow will perform the ceremony at the Brethren church in Myrtle Point this Saturday. The bride is the daughter of Lucy Cribbins. Isaac comes from Pendleton and has worked with the Bradford CCC camp for 18 months. He has been employed by V Hagedorn and most recently on the E E Evernden ranch. The couple plans to live in Bancroft.
R A Renick and William Fit, workers for Sykes and McNair, were hurt when a snag fell while felling a tree at Eckley camp. They were taken by ambulance to Mast hospital with back injuries and Chest and neck trauma. Doctors report Crush chest and internal injuries though extent not yet determined.
A silver tea and antique display will be held at the VFW hall on Friday February 22 in observance of George Washington's birthday. The event opens to the public from 1 to 8 pm with a freewill offering. Volunteers may contact committee members to loan items including Mrs Stella Reed for antique furniture display and Mrs Harvey Smith for old firearms.
Aid To Meet The Presbyterian Ladtern Aid will gather at Mrs. Jesse Clinton's home next Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. A M Christensen assisting.
Myrtle Point High School band will headline the monthly contract at the Presbyterian church services next Sunday evening at 7:30. The program will include band music, vocal numbers, and readings.
A 12 year old Coquille youth, son of A G Miller, was struck by a car near Coquille Sunday around 10 30 in the morning. The vehicle, driven by John Nelson of Marshfield, was involved in the incident as Miller was attempting to cross or near the road. Police and bystanders aided the injured youth and transported him for medical attention.
The county Epworth League rally led by Ian Petty is planned for February 25. A truck supper will be served at 9 00 p m followed by a varied program with fuller details to come.
A loan from Mrs. W L Veatch of Myrtle Point adds to The Heralds historical west window. The item, a supplement to May 29, 1903 Cottage Grove Lane County Leader, features Theodore Roosevelt and MBinger Hermann, Myrtle Point natives, photographed on the rear platform of the President’s private car as the Salem to Portland train departed. Hermann and Roosevelt were close allies and Hermann campaigned for Roosevelt in New York. Roosevelt later urged Hermann’s congressional bid on June date referenced in the Cottage Grove paper.
