Jim Hobson, a prominent Coos County resident, died leaving a large estate and several siblings and a wife Pearl Otto. He held positions as a bank stockholder, director at Coquille Valley Lumber Co, and a major landowner. A lifelong horseman, Hobson raced on Oregon coast fairs and in Mexico and Vancouver. At death he owned seven race horses and had begun preparations for a winter racing quarter on East Fork land, building a house and barn.

Remote child recovers after serious illness episode
