A mounted bobcat was presented to Myrtle Point Union High School during a surprise ceremony at Friday night’s basketball game against Bandon. Henry A Schroeder presented on behalf of the Schroeder family, accepted by Ben Brodie, student body president. The cat, bagged after a China pheasant hunt in October near Nyssa, Oregon, was mounted by a taxidermist near Springfield for the Schroeder party.

Pacific Power files license to build Eden Ridge Dam project
Pacific Power and Light Company announces it has filed with the Federal Power Commission for a license to build the Eden Ridge hydroelectric project on the South Fork of the Coquille River in southeast Coos County Oregon. The plan includes two earth and rock fill dams a six mile reservoir at Eden Ridge and a smaller Lockhart dam with a tunnel penstock to a single turbine driven generator. projected output 89 000 kilowatts with a 25 million dollar cost and a nine mile site from Powers Oregon.

The state game commission adopted five changes to tentative 1960 angling rules. The salmon season on the Umpqua extends Oct 31 to Nov 15. General trout season runs Apr 23 to Oct 31, with coastal streams May 28 to Oct 31 in zones 1 and 3 and to Oct 2 in zone 4. High lakes May 21 to Oct. Steelhead winter season extends to Mar 31 in zone 1.
