One Killed and Two Injured in Major Hiway Slide Near China Flat
A landslide swept from the hillside near China Flat last Wednesday, sweeping a road crew into the river. Wesley Daley of Standley Brothers Logging Co. died after long artificial respiration. Ferris Ford of Grants Pass was swept away and not found by Monday. William McIntyre of Eureka was injured. The slide, extending about a mile, blocked help for hours, with forest service personnel aiding from cabins at China Flat. The February rainfall was record-setting for the period, and Powers Myrtle Point road damage left one-way traffic in several spots.

Architects Propose Widening Plan for High School Remodel
